M in (M)arch is for Missing-in-Action!
Hi, everyone! Long time no see! I hope it doesn’t sound too awkward for you, as it feels that way to me after a whole month of writing nothing. I swear I wasn’t being lazy. As someone who works in taxes, March has been a pivotal month since I started my career. That’s why I went MIA last month (I guess no one even noticed, but ta-da, here I am again!).
So, what should we talk about, you might ask? Since this is more of a ‘welcome back, please be consistent with posting now that you’re not as busy anymore blah-blah-blah’ post, I’m thinking of sharing some new things I’ve discovered over these past few weeks. I hope it makes up for the lack of posts I’ve shared. I also hope the list is worth your scroll:
- I saw Mickey 17 in a theater last month. It definitely wasn’t what I expected. It was so… absurd.
- I had so many empty skincare bottles hidden in a pink paper bag inside my wardrobe. Determined not to let irresponsible people take that waste from the bin and distribute it with toxic substances inside, I decided to research where to recycle. My search led me to a website called Waste4Change, which offers a free recycling service with #ManageWasteWisely (or #BijakKelolaSampah in Indonesian) as its tagline. In short, they knew what to do while I didn’t. So, I separated the lids from all the empties, filled out their recycling form, and packed the waste before sending it to the appropriate recycling facility, as instructed.
- Are you familiar with that super awkward moment when you bump into a stranger on the street and both of you keep stepping in each other’s way instead of moving out? Well, I just discovered that it’s called the ‘sidewalk dance’ for a reason. I experienced it firsthand last month, so I’m pretty sure I can vouch for why it’s a universal problem.
First off, it was a wide street. That’s why us continuing to step in the same direction felt so weird. Secondly, we had to endure that awkward eye contact for quite a while. Please note that we were both strangers to each other. And lastly, the most damning reason this experience is worth mentioning is that it happened with a cat!!!
Yes, you heard that correctly. I had an awkward moment with a cat. It was confused, I was confused, and we were both confused. - I used to not understand the point of getting a plush toy blind box. It’s expensive, and I thought I had no place to store it. Everything changed when a friend gifted me an Emma Rua Rua Zoo blind box, though. I got this cute pink plush toy as a key chain. Now, I’m obsessed.
- I’m currently obsessed with the pants my sister gifted me for my birthday.
- Earlier this year, my family and I were dealing with questions regarding my mom’s health. We were all worried about this strange lump that appeared on her right collarbone. Although it didn’t grow bigger over time, we thought it was still crucial to determine whether the lump was dangerous.
While waiting for the MRI results, my mom was worried sick. She couldn’t stop thinking about the worst possibilities that could come from the scan. The concern caused many long months of worry. But isn’t our God the greatest and ultimate healer—and all we have to do is pray?
My mom turned out completely fine—all glory to God. When she asked the doctor if she needed to return to the hospital, the doctor jokingly replied that she could if she wanted a vacation or a long walk.
Well, that's it for now. I may have run out of things to list, but may the inspiration for my future posts flow like a river. See you in future stories to come!
