New Year's Eve, New Year’s Goals, and a Few Too Many Fireworks (Yay!)
It's the third day of 2025, and I'm supposed to be at work right now, but I called in sick today because of the headache I got after the New Year's Eve celebration. It's a bit of an anticlimax, to be honest, considering how energized I looked during the celebration a few days ago (sleep was the last thing on my mind that night). Unfortunately, the aftermath wasn't as exciting. My head hurt the entire morning yesterday.
(Now you know: when it comes to pulling all-nighters, I suck.)
Still, I regret nothing. I spent New Year's Eve with some friends, and it was so much fun! The celebration was something I'd been looking forward to, especially since December 31, 2024 was still a mandatory workday at my office. At 5 p.m., I clocked out for the day and walked to the apartment that my friends had booked in advance. It was a soothing evening walk. December air always feels different, don't you agree?
There wasn't much to do in the apartment. We had an impromptu movie marathon (How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies, Meg 2, Murder Mystery, and Agak Laen), hosted a mini barbecue dinner party, played cards, and watched the fireworks together. Since our room was on the eighteenth floor, the view was amazing.
What a perfect cityscape at night.
At midnight, the eight of us screamed, "Happy New Year!" in unison. Our shout echoed through the night sky, drowned out by the loud sound of fireworks all around us. We were lucky enough to have people setting them off right below us.
Still in the spirit of the festive season, I want to remember that while I'm not one to make resolutions and stick to them, it's important to have the will to make a positive difference in the brand-new year. So in 2025, I want to:
- Keep falling in love with life and romanticizing the heck out of it;
- Have fun writing and blogging;
- Be kinder and more positive;
- Make more effort to meet new people;
- Start living a more consistent, healthy life and exercise more; and
- Stress less, because I believe everything always works out in my favor.
Happy New Year, 2025, everyone! I hope this year will be awesome for all of us.
