From Pop Struts to Indie Folk: My Spotify Wrap-Up is Finally Here!
Well, well, well, it’s that time of the year again. After going back and forth to see if it was ready, the long-awaited Spotify 2024 wrap-up is finally here! No matter where we're from, I think we can all agree that our Instagram has been filled with the famous 'Top Five Artists and Songs' from our beloved friends and family lately. And we're not complaining... right?
I, for one, shouldn't be complaining. I mean, I AM one of those people (well, who would have guessed?). I'm fairly certain I was among the first to post my yearly song wrap-up on Instagram—early bird catches the worm, amirite? So why not share mine with the world? I was so proud of being in my 'Pink Pilates Princess Strut Pop' era in May before transitioning to 'Mulled Cider Acoustic Pop Indie Folk' in October.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Noah Kahan's Stick Season is so comforting. I'm definitely channeling my mulled cider girlie vibes this year.
While the genres I listened to might sound quite versatile this year, my top artist is unchanged. This might not be my greatest achievement—I've had a higher percentage in the past, believe me—but being in the top 1% of Taylor Swift's listeners worldwide is still pretty good, I guess. My longest listening streak was 13 days. Thirteen. Let that sink in.
For the first time in years, however, my top song isn't one by Taylor. This year, I listened to Risk by Gracie Abrams 108 times. God, I'm actually invested...
Minutes listened? 16,836. That's 280 hours—almost 12 days. I think I need more.
