Finding Blogging Bliss in a Comment

I proudly called myself a blogger before Rolife Coaster was even a thing—“or maybe just an amateur,” I would often add. Serving as a digital diary where I blend book reviews with personal yet introspective posts, Tale Enthusiast has been a little passion project of mine for almost five years and counting (hi, older sister!). Simply put, it’s a hobby and a lifestyle; it’s where I have grown up as a casual observer.

For years, I have focused on honing my writing skills there. I let my posts lean more into a dream-like narrative where the usage of metaphor and symbolism is significant in my writing. Thinking that those posts would not garner a wide audience or provoke any feedback, I decided to turn off the comment section. It was not until recently that I realized how much my blog had developed over the years and how it had, in a way, found its perfect readers.

Although I don’t know who my readers are, I can’t thank them enough for unintentionally cheerleading me and making me want to write even more. As a way to give back, a desire to connect with them surfaced last month. I finally decided to turn on the comment section. It’s not an attempt to push them to interact, God forbid, but I long to create a safe space where anyone can chip in their thoughts anonymously without revealing their identity. I want to hear anything readers feel compelled to share, whether it's a discussion or a similar experience.

So, it had been a quiet month in this part of the digital world until I noticed a rare notification in my blog's daily statistics a few days ago. Someone left a comment under one of my recent posts. SOMEONE ACTUALLY LEFT A COMMENT!!!

It was my first comment after years, and I was so excited that I felt like crying tears of joy. Since I couldn’t reply to the comment directly on my phone, I turned on my laptop. It was almost midnight, but who cared? Sleep could wait, but my readers shouldn’t!

I hope this post doesn’t come off as too corny—I just wish to share this new little thing that brings a smile to my face. It’s so heartwarming to see that someone felt touched enough by my writing to leave such kind words. To say that I’m happy would be an understatement of the century. I’m ecstatic, guys.

Before being redundant becomes even more annoying, let me address this once again to all my readers: thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! I feel appreciated that you still come back to read my blog, whether it’s Tale Enthusiast or Rolife Coaster. Whoever you are, wherever you are, you guys rock.
