My First-Ever Concert Experience: The Eras Tour
When I managed to acquire four tickets to The Eras Tour in Singapore last year, everything felt unreal. All day long, I was like, “I would be meeting Taylor Swift? THE Taylor Swift???” And when the adrenaline began to subside, I was like, “How am I supposed to wait for eight freaking months? Who am I kidding?”
Still, I couldn’t believe my good, good luck (or maybe I should say my colleague’s luck since she was the one who got the tickets for us). After years of having Taylor Swift as my top artist on Spotify, I felt like I was on cloud nine. I waited patiently for months. And when the freaking eight months had finally passed, I was beyond ecstatic to fly to the venue. It was March 2nd, 2024, the first day of Singapore's The Eras Tour!
I arrived at the National Stadium at around 4 p.m. It was still quite early, but Kallang Wave Mall was already very crowded with Swifties from around the world, looking both gorgeous and bejeweled.

So my friends and I were able to get to the front of the tap water queue before Sabrina Carpenter, the real-life Bratz doll, took the stage at 6 p.m. with Read Your Mind as her first opening act (how lucky!). Besides performing some songs from her "emails i can't send fw" album, she also did a cover of Dancing Queen by ABBA. We were all dancing, jiving, and having the time of our life.
Sabrina's set ended at around 06.40. Not long after that, this famous clock appeared...
Everyone screamed. And Taylor Swift finally took the stage at exactly 7 p.m. with the chorus of Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince as her concert intro.
"It's been a long time coming but!" I felt like crying.
Three and a half hours went by very smoothly. It was then time for some mandatory post-concert selfies...
Well, it was certainly a 10/10 experience. And I'm proud to mention that Taylor wore the yellow dress for the acoustic session that day (Swifties understand the lore). I knew then and there the surprise songs were going to be really good.
(Since I got Mine x Starlight and I Don't Wanna Live Forever x Dress, I supposed I couldn’t be more right. Singing along to all those songs didn’t feel real. That night was not real for sure.)
My experience in attending pop concerts (to date) might be limited, but I would say that The Eras Tour was as amazing as I had wished it to be if not more. I'm a little sad that I didn't get to see the TTPD set in real life, but to be honest, I wouldn't want to exchange my first-ever experience for anything.
P.S.: The only regret I have is that I didn't buy a more expensive ticket so I could be closer to Taylor. Ah.
