Best Pasta Place in Jakarta

For me, one of the hardest questions to answer is perhaps: "What is your favorite dish?". I’m an omnivore who loves all things food (except for wasabi and animal intestines—ew!). If I’m being serious, I won’t answer that question with a simple 'noodle' or 'sushi'. I genuinely think that that question deserves more critical thinking and rumination.

As of now, sadly, I still can’t decide what my favorite dish is, but I can confidently provide an answer if you ask me about my comfort food. “I have this genuine love for pasta,” I will say, because a) pasta is delicious; b) pasta is the best; and c) nothing goes wrong with pasta.

While I have quite a few pasta places in mind, this one place—a restaurant called Mamma Rosy—stands out the most. Located in Kemang, South Jakarta, this Italian-owned place is where everything is homemade. While ordering, you can choose the type of pasta you want and the sauce to go with it (I'll link the menu here). 

So I went there with my friends two months ago and my experience was overall eccellente.

Dish #1 - Ravioli Beef with Funghi Sauce

I love ravioli. I love Funghi (but only in dishes). Blend them and you get a plate of Ravioli Beef with Funghi Sauce that tastes amazing. It left me and my friends wanting more and more and more.

Dish #2 - Spaghetti with Saffron & Bacon Sauce

Let's appreciate this spaghetti's homemade texture, which even an untrained eye can see from the picture above. Eating this spaghetti felt like eating delicious food made from scratch in a faraway land surrounded by healthy green foliage. It may sound like I'm exaggerating, but you know me.

Dish #3 - Golosa Pizza

I won't lie—I had had better, but this pizza tasted overall good albeit a little too dry to my liking. Good news: the truffle and cheese as the toppings blended very well. I liked them.

Dish #4 - Tiramisu

Soft and yummy. If you like me and my friends who always love a good old tiramisu for dessert, you should definitely order this.
